Is your nose never really free of congestion? Do you have a persistent cold and a chronic inflammation of the sinuses? Or maybe you are dissatisfied with the size, shape and appearance of your nose?
The nose enables us to breathe freely and perceive delicious odors. Besides, it is the visual center of our face and contributes to harmonious facial proportions.
The anatomical shape of some noses is such that these crucial functions are disrupted. The results are: your nose is constantly blocked, you have a persistent cold, and your sinuses are inflamed. That does not only impair your efficiency. For many persons, the shape of their nose is an esthetic problem.
I can help in these cases with functional and esthetic rhinoplasty. In this operation, I alter the anatomy of the nose in a way that its function as well as esthetics are improved.
The result is that you can breathe freely at last and
enjoy looking in the mirror again.
Whether you have a crooked nasal septum, a hooked nose, a crooked nose, a cleft nose, an unattractive tip of the nose, or unfavorably shaped nostrils – rhinoplasty can improve nasal breathing, your appearance, and your personal well-being.

A rhinoplasty can be performed by two accesses:
Closed surgical technique
In the closed technique, all incisions are performed from the inside of the nose.
Open surgical technique
In the open technique, the skin at the nose bridge is severed and the skin of the nose is turned up.
The technique differs from one person to the other and depends on the diagnostic investigation.
A particularly precise and gentle procedure is piezosurgery, also known as ultrasonic surgery.
Using this ultramodern surgical procedure, I am able to expose bone in a targeted manner and simultaneously protect the surrounding soft tissue.

State-of-the-art medical equipment and the high quality standards in my medical office enable me to perform rhinoplasty as a day-surgery procedure under general anesthesia. My patients are usually permitted to leave the medical office two or three hours after the procedure.
I perform more extensive operations as an attending doctor at Privatklinik Döbling. At this Clinic, patients are admitted to the hospital for a night and are able to recover from the operation peacefully.
Many persons who come to my medical office and wish to undergo rhinoplasty are initially uncertain. How will their face change? What type of nose would suit them best?
My advice is that you should think over the subject extensively at home: what type of nose do you want? To visualize your wishes, I strongly recommend the computer simulation program FaceTouchUp.
Bring a printout of your computer simulations when you come for your first consultation. That will serve as a useful initial guide and we can then discuss the new shape of your nose together.
After the first consultation, you will receive a detailed cost estimate within a week. Before the operation, you know exactly how much the operation, the anesthesia, and the follow-up investigations will cost.
A rhinoplasty may be meaningful for functional or esthetic reasons. Functional reasons include obstructed nasal breathing – for instance in case of a bent nasal septum, narrowed nasal valves, or enlarged nasal conchae.
Esthetic reasons would exist if you are dissatisfied with the shape of your nose and experience an increasing degree of psychological stress due to the condition.
Such shapes of the nose include:
An esthetic rhinoplasty should be performed after physical growth has been completed, and may be performed at the earliest from the age of 18 years.
Before the age of 18 years you may undergo rhinoplasty only if there is a medical indication for it, such as highly obstructed nasal breathing.
General anesthesia is a must for rhinoplasty. It can be done by the open or the closed technique.
When using the closed technique, all incisions in the mucous membranes of the nose are performed at the nostrils. In the open technique, an additional skin incision is performed at the nose bridge and the layer of skin is turned upward.
At my medical office I prefer to use the open access for all esthetic rhinoplasties because that gives me a better view of the individual structures of the nose.
Although the options of modern medicine are numerous, we still have anatomical limits that need to be considered.
Every nose is unique, as is the patient himself/herself.
Therefore, not every patient will be able to achieve every type of nose.
The duration of an operation on the nose always depends on the complexity of the intervention.
Depending on whether it is a straightening of the nasal septum or very extensive rhinoplasty, the operation may take one or several hours.
DPrimary wound healing of the skin at the nose bridge and the mucous membranes within the nose takes about six to eight days.
Bone healing of the nose may take up to 12 weeks.
The final outcome of rhinoplasty can be assessed at the earliest after 12 months.
After a nose operation, you will be unable to work for up to 14 days and should adhere to the following behavioral measures:
